The Creature: Dark Night Of The Scarecrow

It's been a minute since I got on and blogged something. To make up for it, I have a fucking awesome post.

The Creature

Local band on Realicide that totally rips. Hardcore punk with some goth and death rock sprinkled on top, and a gnarly, abrasive feel throughout. The guys in the band are all nice chaps. The title track on this album is fucking incredible. Seen them live a few times, most recently before Greg Bennick did some motivational speaking.

Gnat!: Demo

GNAT!

Mediafire

It's a new download!
Saw this punk band at the Drinkery in OTR opening for Defiance, Ohio.
If Darby Crash and Poly Styrene had a baby it would be Gnat!
Awesome old school 77 style punk with an 80s hardcore ambiance. The sound guy at the show was re-re but it didn't really matter. Gnat! is raw, snotty, punk, and surprisingly less crusty sounding  than they appear.
They have great song names, like Human Centipede and E-Z-Bake Oven.
Hope to hear more from them, they put on a fantastic show!
I'm gonna go play bike polo. Bye!

Standard Deviation (RIP) Demo?

Standard Deviation (RIP)

Mediafire
The Last Practice With Rich/Demo?
We regret to inform you that my band's name already was in use, so it is changing.
We regret to inform you that Rich quit the band.
It sucks extra bad, because we were about to play our first show.

Rich, the drummer, quit the band. He text message broke up with us.
We are auditioning a new drummer tomorrow, picking a new band name, and hopefully moving
in the right direction. We are playing the same songs, just better.

P.S. Rich; have fun in your new band. I hope it's everything you dreamed about and more.

Mephitic Husk - Cave of Black Teeth

Mediafire

Mephitic Husk is brutal two piece of harsh, crushing, doom-laden sludge, from Covington, Kentucky.
Dodd has shared some of his previous radical works with me, and this is their most recent ep. Cave of Black Teeth. It takes the cake, and bathes it in battery acid, and then rubs it in your face. The sheer onslaught of its attack is like getting hit with a down-tuned metaphysical sledge hammer. The power electronics, sampling, effects, feedback, and composition are the aural equivalent of a power tool lobotomy. The sound is so cathartic; don't miss this band. All 3 movements in one track clock in nicely at 14:23. Make sure you have a life alert bracelet, a full coverage epilepsy helmet, and something to bite down on so you don't swallow your tongue when your eyes roll back into your head; strap yourself down and hit play.

My triumphant return to blogspot

I got the hell off of blogspot for awhile. With all of the totally insane internet laws and shit, I really wasn't trying to push my luck.
Powerviolence and Vegan Cupcakes is dead.
I'm gonna try something new.
This blog is going to be run strictly on submissions.
I don't know when the first one will be. I might put some of my friends' bands up,
only after I get their permission.
My new email is Steven.Jansen85@gmail.com:
contact me
I will post and review your music.
